I was in Germany two times during this trip. The first in Düsseldorf visiting my friend Martin & Courdula that I met on my Puerto Rico trip and the second in Bavaria with Jackie.
Jackie and I met up in München (Munich) and set out immediately for Füssen in southern Bavaria.
This is the region that contains the famous Neuschwanstein castle near the little town of Schwangau.
King Ludwig II of Bavaria grew up in his parent castle of Hohenschwangau nearby in a fairytale environment.
When he was made King at 18 he developed this passioin for building new castles for himself. And build he did; putting his family in debt for millions of marks in the process. His growning achievement was Neuschwanstein castle which was never completed on the inside.
His family had him declared insane
and he was replaced with a prince regent. When he was mysteriously
found dead in a lake it was suspected that the state, his family,
or the prince regent was responsible.
This is Cordula & Martin and Lika (their dog).
This shot was taken outside one of the castles in the countryside near Düsseldorf. This castle was an 'orgy palace' for the royal court to have orgies!
Must have been good to be a King! Lica didn't get it...
One afternoon we played this game (Bacchi Ball I think it was called) on the wide pedestrian strasse along the river with several of Martin & Cordula's friends.
Unfortunately the weather was a little cloudy and chilly.
I was only in Düsseldorf before we set off on our Greece trip.
